IdTA Lunch: The Future of Biometric Exit

03/15/17

12:00 PM

Confirming the Biometric Exit data of foreign travelers has been a longstanding goal of the Department of Homeland Security. Last January, then-Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, set a goal of deploying a biometric exit solution at our nation's highest volume airports in 2018. Following that announcement, CBP published an RFI on exit, and has continued to engage the stakeholder community on various parts of the exit solution. This year, President Donald Trump issued Executive Order which called for "the completion and implementation of a biometric entry-exit tracking system for all travelers to the United States." Guests were invited to hear from John Wagner, Deputy Executive Assistant Commissioner in the Office of Field Operations for Customs and Border Protection on Biometric Exit, how the pilots have performed, a path moving forward and ways in which the biometrics industry can contribute and provide input.
